Can I use WPD with a WordPress site I already have?

Yes you can! To use an existing WordPress site, make sure it is on a supported hosting company. If it is, simply import the site into WPDirect.com using the Import Existing Website link at the top of the WPD Dashboard.
Enter the Website Address, the WordPress login information, the FTP login information, the installation directory, and the hosting company.
Your theme will be automatically transferred, but to add it to the WPD interface so you can try other themes but keep the option of switching back, you must upload it to your account using the My Files feature (available on Paid accounts only).

UPDATE: As of July 2009 the My Files feature is available for 30 Day Challenge Bronze accounts.

You will need to manually upload the WPD plugins that are normally installed by our system.

When you import your website to WPDirect, none of the content or layout is changed. All of your images and designs will remain the same. You will simply be able to manage the content and the settings through our dashboard. You will also be able to install our content software for autoposting articles and our exclusive plugins that are only available through the dashboard.
Importing your site is different than installing. Installing a site will overwrite the existing website files, while importing simply brings the site in the way it already is.
To import your website, click "Import Existing Website" at the top of your WPDirect dashboard and follow the onscreen instructions.

I have a WP site at farhadkazemi.wordpress.com
I tried to import it using the option on WPD and used my WP domain name and it didn't work.
Then I exported my blog in WP according to their instructions into an xml file. Then I created an addon domain in cpanel, farhadshealthblog.com and then uploaded the xml file into that directory, and it still didn't work. Then I installed the new blog using WPD and right now it's blank.
Then I tried to import the site again using my new domain name and WPD said that it worked but my blog is still blank at the new domain name and I have duplicate farhadshealthblog.com under Manage My Sites.
Please help.

I've got a blog that I've installed manually myself before hosted by Hostgator and I'd like to import it to my wordpressdirect account so I can use the auto posting software to provide content to this blog. I've tried the link "Import Existing Website" and supplied all the details needed but I was getting an error like I was trying to install it to a wrong destination. I just left the directory where to install the blog to public_html since I want it to install to my existing root domain.
I don't know what's wrong. Please advise.
Thanks,
DAnny

Hi WPD Team,
I am getting the same problem; just signed up today and am unable to import my blog. (It is a previous WPD basic blog - so it has all the plugins)
However, when I browse to the directory of the blog - it still won't import
Please advise.

My question is can I import a non wordpress website where I have a wordpress blog installed on a page within my site?

Hi, I am also trying to figure out how to import an existing site into WPD - it keeps saying account location is wrong? It seems a few people are having this problem, any advice?
Cheers
Nadia
