Try typing in your domain name of your site into your browser. If you get a 'Domain not found' error rather than an
Index-of listing, the issue is because DNS servers have not propogated.

If you just registered the name of your site, sometimes you can see your site,
but we can't in the US, since the propagation doesn't happen instantly
everywhere.

In that case you will still run into trouble. So, to be safe, you have to
wait up to 72 hours after registering the domain name to re-run the installation.

It sounds like we're having trouble connecting to your website or its server.
This is a timeout error message.

There's a chance that we cannot support your hosting company.

Your FTP server may be down or the website hasn't propagated yet.

I have the same problem. I'll wait another day to see if it propagates.

How would I know that you cannot support my hosting company?

I had the same problem, but I found out that when I had purchased my domain name with Go Daddy and my host with Host Gator. I needed to physically go in and change or (point they call it) the name servers from host gator to go daddys. I didnt know that I had to physically do it. I just thought it automatically did it. So, find out through your host what their name servers are and have it changed in your domain carrier. that should solve the problem. Now I have to wait for it to propigate (24 to 72 hours), but at least now it is correct. I hope this helps.

Thank you Elizabeth, that completely helped!
And to further elaborate the answer to help anyone else with this problem, (specifically for that GoDaddy/HostGator combo) Go to your CPanel and find out your two name servers... they should be at the bottom where it says "account information". Copy both, then go to your GoDaddy account, and then go to "my domains". Click on the specific domain, and then under "name servers" click on "set nameservers" You should be able to figure the rest out from there.
