Why is my 'Website Settings' page showing an FTP error?

Why am I seeing this error message?
"System Error
The system could not access your FTP server. Make sure that the correct FTP logins are correct and your host FTP server are running."

That error message usually means that the user-name and password in the website settings page are incorrect. This is usually the case if you update your FTP user-name and password from the hosting side, and forget to update them in WordPressDirect.
This error also results when your hosting server is down.
Resolution- Verify that the FTP username and password match those of your hosting server.

Also, check with your hosting company to make sure that the FTP server is running properly.

I have this same error message and have checked with hostgator. No problems and the username and password are correct. So, what now?

Hi Michelle I got the same problem and I don't know how to solve this problem is taking me over 5 day to set this site. The help line of hosgator and word Press are giving me the same answer to wash the videos on line, which I have but still no solution to my problem.

WPD cannot accept a username with @ in it, so if your new domain is an addon domain to the main account, you need to use the main account FTP login information. As long as you have the correct URL for the addon domain in the "Website Full Address" field for your blog it will find the correct place to upload files for the addon domain.

I'm getting the same problem, it appears wpd is not remembering the password I provided, because every time I go to the website settings the password is blank. I enter the correct password and it returns success, but then anything else I try to do returns the FTP error message, and the password is blank again.
