FTP user name not accepted by WPD

When I am trying to configure my account in WPD it fails under check settings stating my hostgator ftp username is incorrect.
Directly from hostgator!
FTP Username: machine@exercisedvdsforall.com
FTP Server: ftp.exercisedvdsforall.com
FTP Server Port: 21
SFTP Server Port: 22
It says you cannot have an @ in the FTP name! I tried every combination with no success.

Short Answer: We cannot accept a username with @ in it.
If your new domain is an addon domain to the main account, you need to be using the main account FTP login information. This will not install on the main domain because you will be putting the URL for the addon domain in the field for "Website Full Address"
Your website's URL has the correct directory attached to it.
The account location field has been disabled because our system reads this information automatically.

I have posted a similar question, but your answer is not entirely clear. Are you saying that the main account ftp details should be used and it will magically find its way to my addon domain because I have told your system what my addon domain URL is?

I have followed your instructions and this seems to have worked - perhaps you might post a video on this as there seems to be many queries with the same topic.

I continue to get an ftp error: System Error The system could not access your FTP server. Make sure that the correct FTP logins are correct and your host FTP server is running.
I have a ticket for this and I have tried every variation I can think of. I have double, triple and quadtripled checked my information and what I am putting in WPD is what Host Gator tells me is the ftp username and password. The information I find on the host gator page (2082/frontend/x3/ftp/doaddftp.html) with the header of "Add FTP Account | Account created successfully." So please give me the exact path/page of Host Gator to get the FTP information that WPD wants.

Linda Gail, I followed Ask.WPD's advice above and it worked for me. My site with WPD is also an addon domain to my primary domain at HostGator. Go back to the welcome email you received from HostGator where at the top of the message HostGator states "Your Domain", "Your Username", "Your Password", and "Your sites IP address". This should be your primary domain information and the Username and Password shown in that paragraph is what you use for your addon domain.
Hope this helps or your problem has been resolved otherwise.

this worked for me - enter the MAIN ftp account pw, as stated ;)

yes, apparently just entering the main account name for your hosting company works, even though you don't have to specify main account domain/ftp/folder names... it just knows cos your new domain name lives in that location so details are picked up by wpdirect... they should make this more clear for us....

I am so glad I found this answer as following the steps actually does the job.
