What is the difference between wordpress and wordpressdirect?

Wordpress is the most popular blogging platform in the world. It is free to use and has an open API, meaning that 3rd party developers can develop their own themes and plugins, allowing for a nearly infinite degree of customization for various purposes.
However, for those without any technical experience, Wordpress can be difficult to install, because it requires modifying PHP files with database information, uploading the latest version to your server via FTP, etc. It is also not optimized for SEO out-of-the-box, and it is time-consuming to maintain. WordpressDirect (WPD) addresses those shortcomings.
WPD is a "sit-on-top" web application that controls your various Wordpress sites through a single interface (the number of sites you can set up and maintain in one WPD account depends on your level of membership). The WPD interface allows you to perform the most common Wordpress tasks such as writing and editing posts, installing themes and plugins, etc., without ever logging in to the Wordpress admin screens.
Our simple installation process reduces the time and knowledge required for installation, set-up and optimization to as little as 5 minutes for each Wordpress site (please note that you must use a supported host to take full advantage of WPD). This is a task that would normally take anywhere from 30 minutes to 4-5 hours, depending on your levels of technical and SEO experience.
WPD comes pre-installed with hundreds of pre-screened themes, and comes pre-packaged with a suite of SEO-oriented plugins hand picked by SEO guru Robert Somerville (aka Guru Bob). Many of these plugins are proprietary (such as the Buoyant Pagerank Plugin), and not available to the general public.
WPD also greatly reduces the time required to maintain your blog via its Content Poster software modules, such as the YouTube2Wordpress poster. These "auto-posters" scan the internet for syndicated (legal) content based on your keywords and post them automatically to your blog. Although it can never replace having at least some original content (having no original content puts your site at risk of being "slapped" by Google), the long-term benefits SEO benefits of having large amounts of fresh, relevant, supplemental content are enormous.
A great analogy that one of our users came up with is that using WPD to build your Wordpress sites is like having a professional team of plumbers, carpenters and electricians helping you build and maintain your house, rather than trying to do it alone.
Finally, all WPD accounts (even free accounts!) come with unlimited access to our lauded support team, something not available at any price to normal Wordpress users.

Wordpress.org is where you can download the open source software called "Wordpress" to use on your own hosting service, as well as download plugins.
Wordpress.com hosts Wordpress blogs. Use of this service is subject to their terms of service. For example, you are restricted as to what kind and how many advertisements or affiliate links you can put on your site.
WordpressDirect.com (WPD) is an independent service that offers a customized Wordpress installation and other features. Essentially, WPD is an installer and admin tool. It has some admin functionality that you won’t get elsewhere.
Here is an article I wrote that explains in more detail the difference between Wordpress.com, Wordpress.org and WordpressDirect.com.
