how do I install google analytics to my blog?

Here is a troubleshooting checklist.
1. You have placed the ID number in the correct slot on the Website Settings page.
2. You have checked that the Ultimate Google Analytics plugin is activated.
3. Go into wp-admin for the site. click Plugins and double-check that the Ultimate Google Analytics plugin is activated.
4. In wp-admin click Appearance>>Editor>>Header.php. In the header file, paste the code directly before the </head>

You can access wp-admin either through the link halfway down the Website Settings page in WPDirect, or by visiting http://www.mysiteurl.com/wp-admin (where the url is replaced by that of your site).
