FTP Problem

I am trying to install a wpd website on a domain I have parked at hostgator. When I enter the domain and ftp info I get the following error message:FTP connection has failed! either the FTP username , password or the address are incorrect. However, I have confirmed with hostgator that the info i am entering is correct. Can you help me resolve this problem?
